Terms of Service

1. General provisions

These Terms govern the relationship between Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation «Dialogue of Cultures» (the «Operator», «we») and a natural person (the «User», «you») using the Slovo za Slovom mobile application and web service (the «Service»).

The Terms constitute a public offer under Article 437 of the Russian Civil Code. Registration in the Service or use of its features means unconditional acceptance of the Terms.

If you disagree with the Terms, you must stop using the Service.

3. The Service

The Service is an educational platform for learning Russian, available via mobile applications for iOS and Android and the web app at app.slovoedu.ru. It includes:

• personalised lessons based on the User's level and target language;
• different types of exercises: flashcards, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blanks, sentence and word builders;
• voice playback of learning material via an integrated speech synthesis service;
• progress, experience-points and leaderboard system;
• certificates for completed levels.

4. Registration and account

Use of the Service requires registration. The User commits to:

• provide a valid email address;
• keep the password and account secure;
• promptly notify the Operator of any unauthorised access.

The Operator may refuse registration or block an account in case of Terms violations or substantiated reports of User violations of Russian law.

5. Acceptable use

The User commits not to perform actions aimed at:

• disrupting Service operation, infrastructure or other users;
• unauthorised access to other accounts;
• mass scraping, spam or commercial use without written consent of the Operator;
• uploading avatars or nicknames containing profanity, insults, or content infringing third-party rights or Russian law;
• decompiling, reverse-engineering or otherwise tampering with the Service code.

Violations may lead to account suspension or deletion without prior notice.

6. Lesson content and AI

Learning content (exercise text, questions, answer options) is generated using AI systems. We strive for high quality but do not guarantee absolute accuracy and accept no liability for possible errors, typos or translation inaccuracies.

7. Intellectual property

All exclusive rights to the Service, its design, graphics (including tutor characters), code and other materials belong to the Operator or are used by it on lawful grounds.

Use of Service materials outside the application's functionality requires the Operator's written consent.

8. Cost

Use of the Service is currently free. The Operator reserves the right to introduce paid features in the future, with prior notice. Introducing paid features will not affect the existing free tier.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided «as is». The Operator does not warrant:

• uninterrupted or error-free operation;
• fitness for the User's specific learning goals;
• preservation of progress in case of technical failures (though we take all reasonable measures).

To the extent permitted by Russian law, the Operator is not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from use or inability to use the Service.

10. Termination

The User may stop using the Service and delete the account at any time according to the Delete account instructions.

The Operator may discontinue the Service or its features with at least 14 days' notice, except in cases of technical or legal necessity.

11. Personal data

Personal data is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of these Terms.

12. Changes

The Operator may update the Terms. The current version is at slovoedu.ru/en/terms.html. Material changes are notified at least 7 days in advance via the Service or email.

Continued use of the Service after publication of a new version constitutes acceptance of the changes.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Russian Federation. All disputes are resolved per Russian law at the Operator's location, after attempting pre-trial settlement.
